What you want is not what you need

BY ALICE MAHOMES

We want this virus to go away? The question is, what do we need to do to survive?  Unlearn some bad habits, to learn new skills, with our old habits. We were told to wash our hands for at least twenty seconds. We were told to use Clorox, alcohol, Lysol, antibacterial soap, wear masks and stay six feet apart. Are we doing this because we want to? We need to take this serious to save lives. Businesses shut down, stay at home. Toilet paper became top priority, grocery stores stampede empty the shelf, in grocery store, school closed, parents became certified teachers.   Hospital and health facilities with restrictions, families torn apart by keeping our distance. No visits to see our love ones. Churches close. Appointments to go to the bank, temperatures taken to get in. No more dinning in, take out became our normal. Places are being open back up with  precautions. Guidelines to stay safe.

We  want our life style back but we need to stay safe.

In this crises, we panic, call a pandemic a crises.

In a twinkle of an eye, did we leave God out?  Did we give up on God in tenth of second? Do we think God can solve this crises? Unlearn our old behavior so we can learn new life saving behavior in all areas of our lives?

We don’t want buried our decrease this way, but we have had  to learn a new way.  Memorial grave side funerals. We have had to relearn a whole new way of life…

What we want today is not what we need.  We still need a savior, We need a new lifestyle to survive. We need to stay safe. We need a change of heart.

Can you believe in this pandemic? We have tragedies going on inflicting more pain and suffering on our family’s… Do we have enough pain and suffering? We already are quarantine, standing six feet apart. It seems we are semi prison in halfway houses, your own house for someone else’s gain. Let us look on the good side. You’re saying what good side? Believe it or not there is a good side. There is a light in this crises.  We have had more time with our family.  Some parents are learning what home school means, how to teach their own children. Some of us are learning new skills. Some of us are making mask and some of us are praying more. Some of us can spring clean our home. Some of us are gardening. Some of us are coping with creative ways to see our relative in nursing homes and long distant love ones. We are watching church service through using technology more now than ever. We have even had church in parking lots.  Some church’s having  drive-in theater Sunday service. Tune in to radio station in your car.

Good service changes from sit down meals to carry out.

We learn to work from home. Our lives have changed in twinkle of an eye. Like it says in the Bible, what if He already came? Would  you recognize it?

We have had a rude awakening. What we want is definitely not what we need. We need our hearts changed in order for a change to come in us, then our environment would have no choice but to change  into a better world.

I believe this pandemic may have caused us to see and examine ourselves.  I believe some unity in us has happened. I believe some forgiving and healing love is in our hearts.

Pray I like:

O God!  Refresh and gladden my spirit.  Purify my heart.  Illumine my powers.  I lay all my affairs in Thy hand.  Thou art my Guide and my Refuge.  I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved; I will be a happy and joyful being.  O God!  I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harass me.  I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life.

O God!  Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself.  I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord.
